Mentor Information

Thank you for your interest in serving as a YWHRS Mentor. Mentors are selected from high-achieving individuals (high school sophomores and above) who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and experience in research.

As a YWHRS Mentor, you will guide participating students through the scientific research process solely in the field of women's health and related disparities. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the symposium as well, if you desire.

YWHRS Mentors are responsible for leading their mini-research groups of up to 3 students from July 21st-September 18th. This includes topic brainstorming, research design, data collection, computational methods (if applicable), statistical analysis (if applicable), interpretation of findings, and research poster development. Mentors will receive weekly guidelines for structuring their meetings and keeping their students on track for the symposium in the fall.

Mentors are responsible for setting up their own weekly meetings with their students. We recommend Zoom or Google Meet. ALL MENTORS AND PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO JOIN THE SYMPOSIUM DISCORD.

Symposium co-founders will be doing weekly check-ins on each research group to ensure that progress is being made. Mentors who do not fulfill their duties to the optimal standard are subject to being removed from their position.

Orientation for all mentors will be held on Zoom on Monday, July 20th. You will also be assigned your groups on this day. If you are unable to attend, please send us an email at htnurture@gmail.com so we can reschedule.

MENTORS WILL BE ACCEPTED ON A ROLLING BASIS.
